About Us
Central Highlands Regional Library Corporation was established in April 1997 to provide library services to the City of Ballarat, Shire of Hepburn, Shire of Moorabool, Shire of Pyrenees, Ararat Rural City Council, Central Goldfields Shire and Southern Grampians Shire.
The Central Highlands Library Region covers a total area of roughly 20,000 square kilometers, with a resident population of around 180,000 people (of whom 98,102 are members) and has a collection of 288,091 items. The library service lends 1,265,023 books and other items each year and employs the equivalent of 42 full time staff.
Branch libraries are located at Ararat, Avoca, Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Beaufort, Clunes, Creswick, Daylesford, Hamilton, Maryborough, Sebastopol and Wendouree. Our mobile library provides services to areas without easy access to a branch library, and housebound services are provided for those who are unable to physically attend a library service point.
