Conditions of Membership
When you join the Central Highlands Regional Library Corporation you agree to abide by the library's conditions of membership.

1. Membership is free
2. When you become a member of Central Highlands Regional Library Corporation you may:
- borrow library materials from and return them to, any of CHRLC's branches or mobile libraries
- use the computers at any branch subject to the conditions of computer use displayed at each computer terminal
3. To borrow items and use the internet you must present your library membership card
4. All items can be borrowed for 4 weeks, except for DVDs and CDs which both have a two week loan period.
5. Borrowers are also limited to max of 4 DVDs onloan at one time.
6. Items may be renewed for four weeks (two weeks for DVDs and CDs) at any branch, or online. 2 renewals are permitted. Staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your library card number on hand. If a reservation has been placed on an item that you have on loan, a renewal is not permitted
7. New members may borrow library materials immediately upon joining
8. Applicants for membership must present proof of identity and current address at the time of joining
9. Applicants under the age of 18 must have their application form signed by a parent or guardian who will act as guarantor. The guarantor must assume responsibility for any library material that is lost, damaged or stolen whilst on loan to the person aged under 18. They must also agree to be responsible for that member's choice of library material borrowed, or consulted in the library
10. All library material is deemed to be a community resource and is the responsibility of the borrower whilst on loan. If library material is lost, damaged or stolen whilst in your care, you will be charged the cost of the items, plus a processing fee
11. It is the policy of CHRLC to impose an overdue charge on library material that is not returned by the due date. A list of the fees and charges are available from the circulation desk
12. If overdue charges are not paid when library material is returned, the amount owed is calculated automatically and recorded against the borrower's name on the computer
13. Membership may be temporarily suspended until any outstanding charges are paid
14. A charge is payable for replacing a lost membership card
15. Whilst all care is taken in maintaining the quality of items which can be borrowed for use in your own equipment eg videos, tapes etc., all Audio Visual items are borrowed at your own risk
16. Overdue notices are a courtesy reminder for your convenience
17. A reservation and/or inter-library loan service is available for those items which are on loan, available at another branch or at another library service. A small fee is charged for this service
18. All reservation, inter-library loan and lost membership card charges are non-refundable
19. If you change your address or name please notify us immediately
20. Please report lost membership cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported
21. Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties
22. The Central Highlands Regional Library Corporation is subject to: Library Membership Local Law.
